Rowers with a disability can use the indoor rower with adaptive seating such as the Adapt2Row seating system. Its two seats suit rowers with a range of disabilities, from those who need a little more support than the standard seat gives to those who need full postural support.

Adaptive rowing, both on the water and on the indoor rower, has grown a great deal in popularity, and in 2002 the World Rowing Championships included adaptive events for the first time. Indoor rowing is a fully inclusive sport: the British Indoor Rowing Championships don't have separate adaptive categories, but a wide range of disabled athletes compete regularly.

For anyone interested in or already working with people with physical, sensory and learning impairments, YMCA Fitness Industry Training offers a three-day course, Exercise and Fitness for Disabled People, which covers general disability awareness.
